Electrical Engineering/Applied Physics Internship: Electron Detector Validation Framework

ASML
Full-time
On-site
Delft, Netherlands

Introduction

Are you a master student in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field looking for an apprentice or graduation internship? Do you have affinity with software (Python) and knowledge of amplifiers, analog and digital design? Then this internship might be interesting for you!

Background information

In the Delft office of ASML, we are developing a multi-beam electron microscope for in-line wafer inspection. A key module in this electron microscope is the electron detector. For such an integrated element it is difficult to prove that is delivers the required imaging performance before it is built into the entire machine. That is why a model-based validation framework (simulation) is needed; to prove that design choices are correct.

Your assignment

You will be a member of an Agile Scrum team. You will be responsible for making a model based simulation tool that can verify requirements and validate a design. The tool will allow the full physical and electrical simulation of electron detectors, based on design parameters. The input is a beam of secondary electrons, and the output is a digital (simulated) image. The models and the framework itself will need to be validated using actual test results. You will be working together with ASML architects and technical leaders to make the result of your work into a success.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a master student in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.

  • Have affinity with software (Python).

  • Have knowledge of amplifiers, analog and digital design combined with a pragmatic and inquisitive mindset.

  • Have good communication skills in the English language, both written and verbally.

  • Are a pro-active person: you don’t wait for answers, you approach stakeholders to find them.

This is a master apprentice or graduation internship with a duration of 6 to 12 months, for 4-5 days a week, starting Q4 2024 - Q1 2025.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship.
