The Position:


AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Journeyman to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $80,000.00-$120,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as an Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Journeyman may include:



  • Works alongside a team of electrical engineers and engineering technicians to develop engineering procedure/controls

  • Manages project efforts and takes the lead in problem resolution

  • Interfaces with program contractors, vendors and government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering projects, test scheduling, planning and test conduct

  • Researches/Assists with design and integrates high power transmitter systems used to perform electromagnetic pulse, lightning, electrostatics or similar phenomena test/evaluation

  • Operates and maintains high voltage equipment and supports systems used to perform electromagnetic capability testing

  • Plans/Conducts electromagnetic capability simulation testing, data collection, processing and analyses

  • Identifies system malfunctions and coordinates repair and maintenance requirements


 


Must-haves:



  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Physics, Math or equivalent-ABET accredited degree

  • 3 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, network analyzers and spectrum analyzers in a work environment

  • Experience working with and repairing high power systems

  • A willingness to work indoors (30%) and outdoors (70%)

  • A willingness to work overtime when requested

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


 


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with RF systems including but not limited to radars and magnetrons

  • Familiarity with Electromagnetic Capability (EMC) testing

  • Experience working with military aircrafts

  • Experience working on mechanical support systems

  • A comfortability with heights

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:


The physical environment requires the employee to work in the field for a majority of their day, on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.   In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required


 


The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies.  This position may also require driving government vehicles.
