POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides advisory and assistance services to a national security-focused government client. This particular division orients on chemical and biological defense in the area of physical detection, protection, and hazard mitigation. The successful candidate provides scientific and project management support while leveraging U.S. military operational experience to maximize client support for chemical and biological detection and identification technology development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Provide subject matter expertise in in chemical and biological threat detection/identification science using passive or standoff detection methods such as spectroscopy, lasers, lidar, or quantum sensing for high resolution mapping of chemical or biological agents.
- Understand capability gaps and assisting in setting project- and product-level strategy and priorities, and ensure portfolios are responsive and mapped to program goals.
- Coordinate and consolidate complex, technical, programmatic, and strategic responses to support division initiatives to a variety of internal and external audiences. Instructions may be vague and require independent initiative and background research.
- Create communication products for both technical and senior leader audiences.
- Review proposals, technical reports, and statements of work to ensure technical validity, evaluate current and emerging protection technologies, and facilitate cross-communication regarding program priorities and courses of action.
- Provide programmatic, logistics planning, and execution support for meetings with the government clients and their performers.
- Monitor funding documentation and other programmatic metrics for within the division.
- Assist with drafting presentations, papers, and other programmatic documentation.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience in science and technology program management
- Experience in application and analysis of scientific principles for future technologies.
- Active U.S. Government-issued Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret clearance
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with MS Office
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other physical science related field
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- Demonstrated experience with technology prototyping or automation.
- U.S. military experience
- U.S. Army Chemical Corps or similar U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Marine Corps experience with chemical and biological defense
- Knowledge of traditional and emerging chemical warfare agents
WORKING CONDITIONS
- On-site at client or government facilities, with limited telework.
- Up to 20% travel, mostly domestic, may be required.
