Responsibilities
Job Title: PLC Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
  1. PLC Programming and Development:
  • Design, write, and test PLC programs to meet the requirements of the automation systems.
  • Modify existing PLC programs based on process changes, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure programs are optimized for safety, efficiency, and minimal downtime.
  1. System Integration:
  • Integrate PLCs with other control systems, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), and various industrial sensors and devices.
  • Work with other engineering teams to ensure successful integration and communication between systems.
  1. Installation and Commissioning:
  • Plan and oversee the installation of control systems, ensuring all equipment is set up correctly.
  • Commission and test systems in real-time, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and make necessary adjustments.
  1. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance and system updates to ensure PLC systems operate effectively.
  1. Documentation:
  • Create detailed documentation for all programs, wiring diagrams, and system modifications.
  • Maintain records of system configurations, modifications, and any troubleshooting efforts.
  1. Collaboration and Support:
  • Provide technical support to plant operators and maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and other engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on the correct use and troubleshooting of PLC systems.
  1. Project Management:
  • Manage automation projects, including cost estimation, project planning, and coordinating with suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance requirements.
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block, Sequential Function Charts).
  • Experience with various PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, HMIs, and industrial networking (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and control panel design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • Certifications in relevant PLC platforms (optional but desirable).
Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good time-management and project-management skills.
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing plants, process industries.
