Niowave is a leader in the development of superconducting particle accelerators for the production of medical and industrial radioisotopes. The team is now scaling up to meet a worldwide demand for critical radioisotopes. These include the most-commonly used nuclear medicine tracer, molybdenum-99, and the revolutionary cancer-killing actinium-225.

Summary/objective


Full-time position for electrical engineers, at multiple levels of experience and responsibility, to design, build, test, operate, and maintain superconducting electron accelerators and associated hardware. These accelerators involve high-power RF, high voltage, vacuum systems, cryogenics, industrial and low-level RF controls, magnets, and beam diagnostics. An emphasis is placed on robust designs that can operate long-term in a challenging production environment.

Job Duties



  • Design, develop, test, and upgrade systems for present and future accelerators

  • Contribute to the operation of particle accelerators and peripheral equipment/technology

  • Perform calculations to produce engineering specifications for upgrades and future systems

  • Conduct optimization measurements and create validation tests on existing systems

  • At senior level,

    • manage staff performing electrical work throughout the company

    • coordinate work of other engineering staff and technicians

    • collaborate with isotope scientists to meet needs for automated systems




Desired Skills and Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields (or equivalent relevant experience)

  • Depth of knowledge in one or more practical aspects of electrical engineering, especially:

    • microwave engineering

    • analog circuits and circuit analysis

    • power electronics

    • controls systems (up to acoustic frequency response)



  • At the senior level, experience in managing teams of engineers to succeed in short- and long-term development projects


Job Conditions



  • Move between offices and buildings to access accelerator hardware and prototypes

  • Shift work may include evening, night, and early morning shifts, as well as fixed or rotating schedules

  • Operate computers and diagnostic hardware like multimeters and oscilloscopes

  • Extract and communicate information from design documents, test reports, electrical schematics and manufacturing prints
