SUMMARY
Assist in designing, developing, documenting, and testing of Atec products hardware/firmware and
application programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop hardware, firmware, documentation, and testing procedures using established practices while
applying electrical engineering concepts and techniques.
Design and documentation of electrical hardware and equipment using digital, analog, and microprocessor
based electronic components for military and commercial environments.
Assist in the design, testing, and debugging of firmware.
Good knowledge of theory of electricity such as time, frequency-based analysis.
Full understanding of analog/digital design circuits, components, and design.
Understanding of linear, digital, power, and electro-mechanical components and circuits
Familiarity in assembly, C, and other higher-level languages. Ladder programming and CAN programs
such as LabVIEW
Familiar with schematic capturer programs, and electrical wiring programs.
Prepare or direct preparation of product and system layout, schematics, and detail drawings.
Direct, create and review schematics, wire run lists, and is familiar with various electronic and electrical
components including mounting methods, heat sinking and location on printed circuit boards.
Compile and analyze operational, test and research data to establish Acceptance Test Standards for newly
designed or modified equipment.
Direct, create, review, and execute technical manuals, ATP’s, QTP’s, and ICD’s with Electrical
Engineering, Quality Assurance and Technical Publications groups.
Coordinate and perform as necessary the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
Coordinate with Manufacturing when building prototypes.
Able to communicate clearly both verbally and non-verbally (e.g., email, memos, sketches, drawings) and
explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group. Can work effectively with peers.
Will participate in internal design reviews to convey design intent and execution.
Will be included in customer-facing activity, including but not limited to design reviews, technical
interchange meetings, on-site commissioning, and/or training.
Will mentor other Electrical Engineering staff, and/or act in interdisciplinary activities.
May be involved in the creation of technical specifications, statements of work, budgets, proposals and
quoting activities as required.
May track project progress and report to internal and external stakeholders as required.
May assist in establishment of department work instructions, procedures, and standards.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work
environment.
Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization
(AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES
Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate.
Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
Cooperate with Auditors.
Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or
university; or five (5) to ten (10) years of proven experience in design and development of
electrical/electronic components and systems with a registered engineering firm; or a combination of
education and experience.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology
preferred.
Experience using circuit simulator software, NI software, HMI software, and Microsoft Office products.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
IEEE Membership and participation preferred.
Successful completion and passing of the EIT exam recommended; preparing for PE exam preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit and use hands with electrical equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Employee is occasionally exposed to low- and high-voltages during design, testing, commissioning, and
troubleshooting.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Extended work hours and/or travel may occasionally be required.
