Position Description






Serco’s Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business unit employs a team of U.S. Navy Combat System experts based out of our Port Hueneme, CA location. Our goal is to provide our sailors with access to cutting edge technology by providing research and development (R&D), prototype integration and equipment engineering services in support our nation’s most advanced combat systems.

You will be part of a 15-20-member team that works closely with our customers to deliver unparalleled support. The team has been recognized by multiple Navy customers for their outstanding support and contributions to the success of various projects.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Plan, conceptualize, and create electrical designs for new products
  • Apply understanding of electrical or mechanical functions to provide engineering solutions
  • Design and document electrical schematics, circuit layouts and electrical interfaces that achieve performance, schedule, and cost objectives
  • Determine and select appropriate methods and materials for electrical designs and computer parts and assemblies
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans and specifications
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors
  • Work directly with customers and perform design reviews to improve designs
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Build and test prototypes
  • Perform root-cause analysis on part and system failures and offer design improvements
  • Define and conduct product performance, environmental and reliability testing, and evaluate testing results
  • Generate regular technical status updates on work products
  • Manage and maintain project drawings and design files
  • Oversee drawing and document changes as needed to maintain revision integrity
  • Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties








Qualifications






To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 + years of related experience
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.  Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance. (post employment)
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts and experience designing electrical systems and products
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents, drawing, catalogs, data sheets, and vendor quotes
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred Skills:

  • AutoCAD experience a plus
