This position requires the ability to apply a wide range of design experiences and electrical engineering expertise to maintenance, reliability, and capital projects throughout Riceboro Mill.

Responsibility/Duties:

  • Assist in the design, installation, and testing of new electrical systems, including motors, controls, and power distribution equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on existing electrical systems according to established schedules
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including motor control circuits, instrumentation, and lighting systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical manuals
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of electrical work performed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and safety personnel
  • Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance
  • Collects, interprets process data by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Uses information to improve mill reliability and productivity
  • Evaluates the performance of electrical and electromechanical systems to determine best option for replacement or improvement
  • Prepare electrical schematics for instruments, controls, electrical devices, motors, and other industrial equipment
  • Assist with process design activities including equipment sizing, design of PFD’s and P&ID’s, loop sheets, E/I diagrams, process control and instrument specification
  • Ensure equipment and materials are procured and installed as per Regulatory bodies (OSHA, NFPA 70 (NEC), etc.) and client company’s engineering standards and specifications
  • Ensures all maintenance activities meet quality standards with respect to workmanship, processes and procedures in order to deliver plant quality targets and machine reliability
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies

    Qualifications/Education/Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
    • 3-5 years of electrical engineering and/or reliability experience
    • Pulp/Paper manufacturing experience preferred
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
    • Familiarity with industrial electrical equipment and systems
    • Knowledge of power distribution equipment (switchgear, breakers, capacitors, load
      sharing) as well as PLC’s and DCS systems and VFD’s (variable frequency drives)
    • Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software
    • Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Demonstrate the ability to achieve results by influencing others and supporting the overall business.

    Accountability:

    • Ability to demonstrate mill reliability improvement via key metrics.

    • Ability to prepare projects for implementation and construction, and oversee projects from concept to completion within financial and time budgets

    • As part of the Maintenance and Engineering team, shares in the responsibility of providing weekend and off-hour availability to support maintenance needs as well as startup support from planned and unplanned shutdowns.
