Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
- Prepares engineering designs for the construction and/or installation of electrical apparatus, appliances, devices, and systems. Designs typically involve the development of detailed plans, specifications, calculations, construction cost estimate, and statement of work.
- Prepares statements of work and cost estimates for designs that will be developed by A/E contractor.
- Performs analyses and calculations within his/her discipline, including the analysis of technical proposals and designs prepared by contractors and others.
- Provides technical support within his/her discipline during construction, which includes field inspections, submittal review and project meeting attendance.
- Performs assessments of existing and proposed electrical systems for life safety compliance and other risks. Identifies potential hazards and implements mitigation methods.
- Maintains knowledge of current electrical and building codes and technologies through research and training.
- Assures assigned projects comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborates with other engineers and design professionals to create complete design packages.
- Coordinates project activities with other agencies, contractors, utility companies, state and local government authorities, and the general public.
- Performs inspections of on-demand repairs, scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, projects, and other electrical system related tasks.
- Develops inspection reports and provides feedback to personnel, contractors, and stakeholders based on observations and recommendations.
- Develops and reviews statements of work (SOW), cost estimates, drawings, and project documentation. Provides feedback and recommendations accordingly.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must have experience in the application of the latest technologies to meet the mission requirements of the Customer with a primary focus on facility and site infrastructure and systems.
- Must be proficient in the use of RS Means CostWorks and AutoCAD.
- Must possess, at a minimum, a bachelorβs degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- For the Senior level, eight (8) years of relevant experience is required. For the Journeyman level, five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
