Position Description:
• Lead and conduct design, analysis, studies, evaluation, and recapitalization of electrical circuits, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.
• Lead and conduct performance studies, and develop reports, drawings or specifications relating to electrical power and generation.
• Evaluate the effect of new or modified electronics on overall system performance.
• Knowledge U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architecture.
Capable of conducting or evaluating:
• Electrical Load Analysis
• Electrical One Line Diagrams
• Electrical Switchboard
• Emergency Generator and Switchboard
• Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
• Design Verification Test Procedures (DVTPs)
• Periodic Safety Test Procedures (PSTPs)
• Dynamic Positioning (DP) Systems
• DP FMEA
• DP Proving Trials
• DP Operations Manual
• Automation
• Coordination Studies
• Short Circuit Analyses
• Novel technologies (i.e. Lithium-ion, Hydrogen fuel, Solar, etc.)
• Autonomous Vessels
• Remote Controlled Vessels
• Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC’s).
• Knowledge of USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.

Education/Certification Requirements:
• BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine Degree from ABET accredited institution, related to field of work.
• Minimum of 10 years’ documented experience working in one of the following specialized fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems.
• Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required.
• Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation skills.
• Time Management and Organization skills.
• Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and provide examples of written correspondence.
• Candidate must possess an active or be eligible for Secret clearance.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
