Analog Engineer - RF
Type: Permanent, full-time.
Location: Livingston, United Kingdom- Eligible for Hybrid Working.
Why new role: To expand Hardware team.
The Role
As an Analog Engineer/RF, you will be responsible for designing RF circuit hardware for a variety of applications in healthcare, life sciences, and space sectors. You will work on projects ranging from proof-of-concept to manufacturing and operational use, and focus on RF front-end design and associated critical electronics functions such as ADCs, DACs, and power supply design. Your main duties will include:
- Designing and leading the development of complex RF hardware
- Applying expert knowledge of board-level RF circuit design and the latest industry developments
- Developing different radio front-end architectures while understanding trade-offs, cascade design and analysis
- Deriving technical performance specifications from high-level use cases, even if they are not well defined
- Collaborating with customers and internal stakeholders to understand use cases and communicate ideas
- Collaborating with other technical specialists to contribute to the design process
- Using your expertise to quickly expand your knowledge into new areas as appropriate for the task
Skills and Experience
- A degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or a strongly related subject
- Expert knowledge of board-level RF circuit design and the latest industry developments
- Knowledge of theoretical foundations and the practical application of theory in design
- Understanding of RF PCB construction and how to specify appropriate board stacks
- Experience with Direct Digital Synthesis and/or high-power RF techniques
- Experience with EM and large-signal RF simulation design tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS, Altium, PCB tools)
- Good understanding of antennas, waveforms, and signal processing
- Familiarity with RF lab equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and vector signal analyzers.
